Video Desktop Adapter (VDA)

This product is discontinued.

Video Desktop Adapter (VDA) remote desktop technology adds powerful remote video and control capabilities to control room management systems, video wall processors, matrix switchers and multiviewers. By combining video and graphics with keyboard and mouse (KVM) control signals over IP, VDA devices enable all of RGB Spectrum’s solutions to support remote sources and operators.

Overview

Competitive remote desktop control systems typically employ either VNC compression technology that optimizes for text and graphics but not video transmission, or conventional H.264 compression technology, which works well for video but not text. In contrast, VDA devices utilize a proprietary adaptive compression technology that provides excellent high motion video as well as clear text and graphics transmission, far superior to VNC/RDP compression. Incorporating AES-256 and NSA Suite B cryptography, highly-secure VDA devices also protect sensitive data during transmission over public networks.

The low latency control and fast response times provided by VDA devices support multi-site workflows and remote supervision. By transmitting video signals and KVM control over IP (LAN/WAN), VDA devices integrate remote sources and enable operators/supervisors at any connected site to have real-time access to, and control over, all system resources.

With the incorporation of VDA technology, MultiPoint Enterprise, RGB Spectrum’s powerful control room management system, can now consolidate any source, any operator, and any site, under the control of one intuitive interface. This innovative hardware and software platform combines real-time signal processing with multi-user KVM and extensive remote capabilities to provide operators/supervisors with 24/7 access to all system resources, from any global location.

VDA extends the benefits of remote transmission and IP KVM control to other RGB Spectrum systems that use video wall processors (MediaWall or OmniWall), matrix switchers (Linx), or multiviewers (SuperView or QuadView). A pair of VDA devices can also be used as signal extenders when highly-secure transmission is required over long distances.

By adding powerful, real-time remote capabilities to our full range of control room, display processing, and signal routing solutions, our IP-enabled VDA devices enhance the functionality of all RGB Spectrum solutions.
