RGB Spectrum Press Release
RGB Spectrum’s Zio Video-over-IP Platform Powers Lockheed Martin’s Mission Planning and Rehearsal Trainer for the F-35

ALAMEDA, California – Oct 15, 2026 – RGB Spectrum® is proud to announce its role in the Modified Mission Rehearsal Trainer (MMRT) program, a Lockheed Martin innovation in F-35 pilot training and mission rehearsal. This groundbreaking program expands tactical training and mission rehearsal capabilities with a reduced physical footprint.

Advancing F-35 Pilot Training

As the most advanced fighter jet in the world, the F-35 delivers unmatched lethality, survivability and connectivity. F-35 pilots are a key part of the aircraft’s role in providing next-generation air power across U.S. military services and around the globe. F-35 pilots require mission rehearsal that matches the complexity of the mission. The MMRT system delivers it, utilizing RGB Spectrum’s video hardware and software.

The Lockheed Martin MMRT supports both tactical pilot training and high-fidelity mission rehearsal. Fully compatible, it can connect with Full Mission Simulators (FMS), allowing pilots to practice joint maneuvers and operations together. In 2025, 12 pilot training devices at Luke Air Force Base successfully demonstrated the scalability of its training systems and ensuring that large-scale training exercises can be conducted efficiently and effectively.

For both the FMS and MMRT systems, RGB Spectrum’s Zio® Video-over-IP platform delivers high-quality video streaming, recording and multiview playback. From mission planning to after-action reviews, the Zio platform supports the visual display of every phase of the training process with precision and reliability.

“This will give F-35 pilots the scenarios and repetitions necessary to steepen tactical learning curves and provide a much-needed capability for our F-35 units,” said Matthew “Ali” Olson, retired USAF F-35A pilot, about the successful test.

RGB Spectrum’s Role in Advanced Simulation Solutions

RGB Spectrum’s Zio Video-over-IP platform seamlessly integrates the FMS and MMRT’s core components:

  • Pilot Cockpits: Streaming high-resolution visuals and data, including avionics and target acquisition systems.
  • Instructor Stations: Enabling real-time monitoring and interaction during training sessions.
  • Debrief Rooms: Providing advanced playback and analytical tools, such as frame-by-frame analysis and variable-speed playback for detailed performance assessments.

The RGB Spectrum networked video platform supports FMS and MMRT in meeting the high demands of F-35 pilot training with a scalable and efficient system.

Empowering Tactical Aviation

“We are honored to contribute to the success of the FMS and MMRT to ensure readiness of F-35 pilots worldwide,” said Bob Marcus, CEO of RGB Spectrum. “The Zio platform’s advanced capabilities, including superior video fidelity, low latency, and intuitive control, set a new standard for mission-critical training environments.”
