Linx Found Between Patients and Hospital Staff

St. Joseph Hospital, in Orange County, California is a leading edge medical facility highly regarded for its innovative use of technology in patient care. They chose system integrator Spinitar to implement a unique digital signage solution that included RGB Spectrum's Linx™ DVI switchers. The Linx's 24/7 reliability and flexible control made it the obvious choice.

The St. Joseph staff wanted an effective method for monitoring real time activity throughout their Pre-Op, Clean Core, and Post Anesthesia Care Unit. They needed a way to centrally manage and disseminate real time patient tracking information in both direct and ancillary areas. Added convenience and improved operating efficiencies were the goal.

The two Linx 8x8 DVI Switchers were incorporated with servers, customized control software and Sharp 1080p displays. Fiber optic cables were used over the long runs to maintain a pure digital path from the source computers, through the Linx switcher, to the displays.

As clinical staff update each patient's status in the database, the system formats and displays each room's corresponding information on multiple displays throughout the facility. A color code system enables doctors and nurses to immediately view changes in a patient's status. Additionally, when an operating room is no longer in use, hospital staff can easily see this and prepare for the next procedure more quickly.
