Sprint Nextel's New Executive Briefing Facility
![]() |
April 8, 2008, Alameda, CA - Sprint Nextel, one of the world's leading telecommunications providers has built a state-of-the-art Executive Briefing facility in its Atlanta, Georgia Media Center. The new facility is designed to perform a variety of functions, including new product briefings, sales presentations, demonstrations, technology displays, focus groups, and video teleconferencing.
Sprint Nextel delegated the design of the audio and video systems to SPL Integrated Solutions, a nationwide integrator of A/V systems. Robert Aguirre, Senior Account Executive in SPL's Atlanta office described the project, "Sprint wanted a venue that would reinforce its technology-leadership image and would be a showcase for its telecommunications products and services. The new Executive Briefing facility includes two identical presentation rooms. Sprint executives wanted maximum flexibility for displaying many and diverse images from an extensive variety of visual sources. To meet the challenge, we selected RGB Spectrum's SuperView® 4000 multi-viewer as the heart of the system."
Each of the two rooms is equipped with a SuperView processor which can integrate a broad range of computer and video sources routed through a 48 x 48 matrix switcher. The processors are fed computer sources demonstrating Sprint's proprietary telecommunications applications, network operations center demonstrations, PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, internet pages, and video telecommunications. The processors also receive live video inputs from video cameras throughout the Media Center and two television broadcast feeds, and recorded video from DVD players and VCRs.
Each SuperView processor consolidates the computer and video sources and outputs a multi-window image to a Christie DW6K rear projection display system. Briefing Center personnel use a touchscreen control panel to switch video and computer sources and choose from an array of pre-set display arrangements. In addition to changing sources and window configurations, the presets also accommodate the correct 16:9 or 4:3 aspect ratio for optimal viewing. Image sources can be displayed any size, anywhere on screen. Operators can also pan and zoom within an image to view an area of particular interest.
Michael Lane, Senior Project Engineer for SPL Atlanta commented, "The SuperView multi-viewer offers the utmost versatility, superior image quality, and exceptional image processing performance. It is a powerful tool to improve information display effectiveness. Our client is very pleased with the results".
