Independent Pilot's Association Uses View™ Technology for Video Conferencing
February 15, 2004, Alameda, CA - The Independent Pilots Association, which is the collective bargaining group for the UPS pilots group, recently moved to a new headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky. This new facility has been enhanced with new multimedia display technology to help IPA management and their employees communicate industry-specific news across the country.

RGB Spectrum's QuadView processor simultaneously displays up to four images from different sources on a single screen in the UPS Union's Mobile Presentation System. |
Previously the IPA's teleconferencing and information distribution capabilities were limited. PSG Systems was brought in as the integrator for the new facility. They selected the QuadView® display processor for the Mobile Presentation System, a videoconferencing/audioconferencing/presentation system that can be wheeled around the facility and interfaced to a dedicated AV LAN with "drops" throughout the building. The QuadView enables the simultaneous viewing of up to four sources: near-site video, far-site video, local laptop, local AV source, far-site AV source, far-site data graphics, or any AV source on the AV LAN, in scaled windows onto one 50" plasma display. In addition, the QuadView enabled the station to share the same output with any local or AV Network with any far site as well. The information viewed on the mobile presentation system includes interviews, teleconferencing, presentations, teleprompter notes, and real time video from the IPA President's office.
"We selected the QuadView for this project," according to PSG Design Engineer Steve Ross "for its excellent image quality, performance and reliability."
The QuadView processor combines up to four computer and/or video signals on a single monitor or projector. Each input channel offers a choice of NTSC or PAL composite, component, S-Video, and high-resolution analog RGB up to 1600 x 1200 pixel resolution. Unlimited display options include simultaneous viewing of four inputs in quadrants, side-by-side display, and picture-in-picture, full screen display of any single input, overlapping display windows, and 16:9 aspect ratio support. Each input can be scaled and positioned anywhere on the screen, as well as panned, zoomed, and overplayed. Inputs may be from virtually any source, including cameras, tape recorders, teleconferencing systems, desktop computers, videodiscs, etc. Output resolution is user-selectable up to 1600 x 1200 pixels. In addition, the output can be genlocked to an external signal, which can be displayed in the background. A DVI output is available for display devices that accept a digital signal.
