Enhanced Digital Editing for DGy Codecs

January 22, 2008, Alameda, CA - RGB Spectrum is pleased to announce enhanced capabilities for editing recordings from its DGy JPEG2000 codecs, viewing them on Windows and Mac-based PCs, and authoring DVDs for distribution.

These new capabilities are provided through the use of a combination of third-party, commercial-off-the-shelf applications: the ZyGoMJ2Bundle from ZyGoDigital and QuickTime PRO (Windows and Mac versions) from Apple Computer.

The ZyGoMJ2Bundle plug-in utility works in conjunction with QuickTime PRO, enabling it to recognize, access, and replay DGy recordings in the JPEG2000 MJ2 file format, with new support for stereo audio.

QuickTime PRO offers basic editing and JPEG2000 recording conversion capability (i.e. "save as") to the ubiquitous MOV file format. Once QuickTime PRO performs the JPEG2000 to MOV file format conversion, the file(s) can be edited and concantenated with full audio. QuickTime PRO's editing capability lets you extract multiple DGy recording segments or combine multiple whole clips and re-assemble them into a new combined clip in MOV format. The original fidelity, image quality, and frame rate of the DGy recording is preserved in this conversion process.

Additionally, once the DGy are converted to the MOV format, they can also be edited with other popular non-linear editing software such as Apple's Final Cut PRO and Adobe Premier.

Note: Standard QuickTime does not have the capability to convert DGy JPEG2000 recordings to MOV format. Only the PRO version provides this capability.

To author DVDs for duplication, distribution, archival storage, and remote viewing, use conventional PC-based DVD authoring applications on a computer equipped with a DVD burner. There are a myriad of applications available in Windows and Mac environments providing this capability.

QuickTime PRO Editing Capability

With QuickTime PRO, you can:

  • 1. Using simple QuickTime segment selection tools and Copy/Paste functions to extract portions of one of more DGy clips, re-assemble them, and concatenate them into a new, combined MOV clip for PC viewing and DVD creation.
  • 2. Using simple QuickTime insertion point tools and Copy/Paste functions, you can connect multiple DGy clips together and concatenate them into a new, combined MOV clip for PC viewing and DVD creation.
  • Hint: Once, in this conventional MOV format, the recording can be played on any version of QuickTime and edited by sophisticated non-linear applications, such as Final Cut PRO, Adobe Premiere, etc.For more information on QuickTime and QuickTime PRO, visit http://helpqt.apple.com/qthelpwr3/english/QuickTimeHelp/
