RGB Spectrum Announces New High Resolution Recording and Streaming Multicast Video Server

January 27, 2009, Alameda, CA - RGB Spectrum has expanded its line of multi-channel recording and streaming systems with the new Multicast Video Server model MVS-400. The MVS-400 is a fully integrated, high performance system for simultaneously recording, storing, and distributing up to 24 channels of high resolution, real-time imagery using the JPEG2000 compression standard. The model 400 is the latest in RGB Spectrum's line of video servers. These provide sophisticated coordination, storage, and dissemination of numerous, simultaneous channels of high resolution imagery for demanding mid-to-large scale mission critical applications, including simulation, missile testing/telemetry, training and command-and-control.

The Multicast Video Server offers the capability to record and store multiple channels while simultaneously viewing the same imagery at local and remote locations. They are used with RGB Spectrum's DGy codecs for encoding and decoding at origination and destination points to provide a complete solution for recording and monitoring requirements. The MVS-400 supports up to 24 simultaneous streams in any combination of incoming and outgoing streams.

In a simulator application, for example, the instructor can view critical data seen by the pilot on a real time basis while the same information is simultaneously being recorded on the MVS. Observers in other locations, such as a debriefing room, can view the same real time data or previously recorded simulations stored on the MVS.

Advanced features include random access, time code synchronization, and variable speed playback.

RGB Spectrum's recording and streaming technology has become the de facto standard in numerous mission critical applications such as simulation, command-and-control, emergency operations centers, missile testing, security, and telemetry. High profile installations include the F-35 Lightning III Joint Strike Fighter simulator program, the U.S. Army Future Combat Systems program, the U.S. Army Space and Strategic Defense Command, the U.S. Army Operational Test Command, and deployments on the U.S. Navy destroyer fleet, the Canada Navy frigate fleet, and the U.S. Missile Defense Agency.
