New Automatic Backup Capability for DGy

February 28, 2008, Alameda, CA - The DGy™ Models 201x and 401x now offer an optional capability to simultaneously record to the internal hard disk drive and an external network attached storage device. This exclusive dual recording feature provides automatic backup of recordings, offering convenience and peace of mind.

The DGy Automatic Backup option also offers the flexibility to take the internal removable hard disk to another DGy unit at a remote location, leaving the first unit with access to the network drive. It is available for DGy 201x and 401x models equipped with the Remote Disk Mount (NFS) option.

DGy codecs record, transmit, or stream high scan rate images. Models are available in either single channel or dual channel with or without disk drives. The DGy sets a new standard in terms of image quality, using JPEG 2000 compression to achieve almost lossless recording. This wavelet-based codec provides results superior to the more common DCT based compression schemes.

The DGy recorder/codec, compresses, stores, replays, and streams imagery at up to 1600 x 1200 pixel resolution. It supports computer, radar, sonar, FLIR, X-Ray, HD, and stereo audio. All DGy models can record 1600 x 1200 resolution inputs at up to 20 frames per second or 1280 x 1024 resolution inputs up to 30 fps.

The DGy line includes four models. Models 210x and 401x include a removable hard disk and an optional fixed hard disk, offering recording storage from 10 to 32 hours per drive. Models 301x and 501x are diskless and use external network attached storage, such as a RAID, for centralized recording storage and retrieval. Models DGy 401x and 501x can record two inputs at half rates with fully synchronized playback.

All DGy codecs offer standard JPEG2000, plus JPEG2000 with interframe compression making them an ideal solution for streaming graphics across networks where higher compression rates are necessary to avoid overtaxing network bandwidth. The DGy also supports file transfer to and from a remote computer or file server using standard ftp protocol.

The concurrent record and replay option allows review of imagery while recording is in process. The DGy offers an unparalleled feature set including external time code synchronization (IRIG-B or Network Time Server), event marking, and random access. Multiple DGy units can be interconnected to support simultaneous, synchronized recording of multiple channels. Remote playback on a Windows PC is supported using a JPEG 2000 plug-in to the standard Windows Media Player.

The DGy codec's combination of superb image quality, rich feature set, and outstandingperformance make it the ideal solution for demanding, mission critical applications.
