New DGy 302x High Resolution Graphics Codec

November 12, 2008, Alameda, CA - The industry-leading DGy™ recording family has expanded with the compact-size model 302x. The new codec continues to offer the "de facto" industry standard in terms of image quality, using JPEG 2000 compression to achieve almost lossless recording. This wavelet-based codec provides results superior to MPEG and other DCT based compression schemes.

The codec captures and compresses real time computer imagery, radar, sonar, FLIR, and HD video at up to 20 fps at 1600 x 1200 or 30 fps at 1280 x 1024 resolution. The DGy 302 uses external network devices, such as a RAIDs, for centralized storage.

The DGy 302x offers all of the functionality of the standard DGy 301x but is specially designed for desktop and mobile use. Conduction cooling and external DC power allows for a small footprint, light weight, and silent operation. The codec uses industry standard JPEG2000 compression for recording, which allows non-linear editing (NLE). In addition, it offers proprietary interframe compression for streaming graphics across networks with reduced bandwidth. The DGy 302x also supports file transfers with a remote computer or file server using standard ftp protocol.

The DGy 302x provides an unparalleled feature set, including external time code synchronization (IRIG-B or Network Time Server), event marking, and random access. Multiple units can be interconnected to for synchronized recordings. Remote playback on a PC is supported with a JPEG2000 plug-in to the Windows Media Player. The combination of superb image quality, rich feature set, compact size, portability, and robust performance makes the DGy 302x the ideal solution for demanding, mission-critical applications.
