New Solid State Storage for DGy Digital Recording and Streaming Systems

October 26, 2009, Alameda, CA - RGB Spectrum is pleased to announce the availability of solid state recording storage for the DGy™ digital recording and streaming systems. The new DGy solid state storage is ideally suited for mobile applications and harsh environments.

The DGy solid state storage is available as a removable hard drive assembly that replaces the mechanical hard drive that is the standard storage medium for the DGy 201x, 201XL, and 401x models.

Unlike conventional hard disk drives which have mechanical parts, the new DGy solid state drives (SSD) have no moving parts, using instead flash memory for data storage. This solid state design offers a number of benefits including increased durability, reduced weight, lower power consumption, silent operation and no heat output. Drive failure and data loss risk is reduced since there are no internal parts that can break.

DGy SSD drives offer enhanced ruggedness versus traditional hard disk drives. DGy SSD drives offer greater shock resistance to 1500G (at 0.5ms), higher linear vibration resistance at 20G (at 10-2000Hz), and an extended operating temperature from -10oC to 70oC.

DGy SSD removable drives are available in two capacities: 64GB for 3.5 hours of recording storage (on average) and 128GB for 7 hours of recording storage. DGy SSD drives include a padded carrying case and can be locked in a safe for complete data security.

DGy systems have become the de facto standard for mission critical recording and streaming applications, including simulation, command-and-control, emergency operations centers, missile testing, security, and telemetry. Noteworthy installations include the F-35 Lightning III Joint Strike Fighter simulator program, the U.S. Army Future Combat Systems program, the U.S. Army Space and Strategic Defense Command, the U.S. Army Operational Test Command, and deployments on the U.S. Navy destroyer fleet, the Canada Navy frigate fleet, and the U.S. Missile Defense Agency.

With more features, DGy codecs continue to offer the best price-performance in the industry!
