New DGy PC Software Provides Replay with Windows Media Player

February 27, 2009, Alameda, CA - RGB Spectrum has updated software for its DGy line of multi-channel recording and streaming systems with the new DGy Basic PC Player. The Player is a plug-in utility for use with Windows Media Player version 11 and earlier versions, to provide the convenience of PC playback of DGy recordings.

Replay DGy Recordings on a PC

Any PC equipped with Windows Media Player and the DGy Basic PC player software can replay DGy recordings. Using the DGy's network file server (NFS) remote disk feature, DGy recordings can be stored on a centralized network attached storage device (NAS), such as a RAID. Any user who has direct access to this network attached storage devices can retrieve and replay any recording right on their PC using Windows Media Player equipped with the DGy Basic PC Player plug-in.

Remote PC Replay of DGy Recordings

The DGy also offers the flexibility of distributing and replaying DGy recordings anywhere. DGy recordings can be copied onto data DVDs and CDs and distributed to any location. Users receiving these DVDs and CDs can replay the DGy recordings right on their PC using Windows Media Player equipped with the DGy Basic PC Player plug-in.

Flexible PC Replay

Users have the versatility of choosing to replay individual portions of the DGy recordings, rather than the entire clip. Every DGy recorded clip is composed of a sequence of underlying files, each with a duration of 1 to 5 minutes. These underlying files are delineating by the clip name, date, time, and sequence within the clip. The user simply selects one or more of the desired underlying files from one or more clips and places them into the Windows Media Player "Playlist". Then, just like any other digital recording with Windows Media Player, the user can replay the files individually or in sequence.

Simultaneous Recording & Replay

When recording to a centralized network storage device, users can actually replay portions of the recording that have already been stored on the NAS from their PC while the recording of the current clip continues.

Any user who has direct access to this NAS can retrieve and replay any of the underlying files of the clip currently being recorded recording on their PC using Windows Media Player equipped with the DGy Basic PC Player plug-in. The user simply selects the desired files from the NAS.
