Trendy San Francisco Sports Bar Dazzles Fans with Captivating Multi-Image Display System

July 27, 2006, Alameda, CA - Honored with the "Best of San Francisco" award, the popular Jillian's entertainment megaplex located in the fashionable Metreon entertainment and shopping complex provides its patrons with a premier sports viewing experience. Darren Des Roches, General Manager for Jillian's explained, "Our goal was to deliver a premier sport's viewing experience, by providing an exciting, action-packed sports bar venue. We wanted to enhance our food business with top-end video entertainment and offer a place where sports enthusiasts can dine and enjoy viewing sports in a socially engaging atmosphere."

RGB Spectrum's SuperView processors present a cavalcade of exciting sports action to Jillian's sports fans on the largest sports bar screen in San Francisco.

To create a captivating audio visual system, Jillian's entertainment megaplex contracted with audio visual technology specialists, Be Media, in El Segundo, California. According to Mohammed Ahmadi, President/CEO of Be Media, "We designed a massive 50-foot long by 16-foot high video wall that is the centerpiece of the bar. To cater to widest group of sports fans, Jillian's wanted to have the flexibility to display a single sporting event or multiple events across the video wall. Additionally, the A/V system needed to support a variety of image sources, from high definition satellite feeds to computer-based PowerPoint presentations. After thorough research, we identified RGB Spectrum's SuperView multi-image display processor as the device that could meet these requirements."

The SuperView processors receive live inputs from thirteen independent satellite feeds, three high definition and ten standard broadcast, as well high resolution computer sources. Des Roches stated, "the SuperView system gives us the versatility to display whatever is popular with our patrons; sporting events, CNN news or ESPN shows. We present a cavalcade of sports action, baseball, football, auto racing, basketball, soccer, boxing, horse racing and all of the major events including World Cup soccer, the Super Bowl, World Series, NBA Championship, March Madness tournament, Indy 500, and Triple Crown horse racing. Periodically, we also display drink specials, menu highlights, and information on upcoming promotions and events".

Each SuperView processor outputs to a ceiling-mounted Panasonic PT-D5500U DLP projector at its native 1024 x 768 resolution. Up to thirteen individual images can be displayed along the video wall at one time. A simple image can also be displayed stretched across the entire wall. The SuperView processor is controlled from a central station using a touch panel controller. Operators can select input sources and pre-set display configurations with one-touch selection.

Jillian's innovative video wall is used for more than just sporting events. At night, the main dining and bar areas are converted into a chic nightclub with live bands and recorded dance music spun by DJs. During club hours, the SuperView-based video wall displays music videos, computer-generated art, and digital photos of club patrons at previous club nights. When Jillian's is rented for private parties, Sony PlayStation games are depicted on the video wall. During corporate meetings and events, PowerPoint presentations are displayed on the wall.

Jillian's also created a revenue generating opportunity for the video wall. Due to its proximity to the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco, Jillian's is a popular watering hole for show attendees at the end of the day. Trade show exhibitors and local companies pay for advertising on the video wall.

Ahmadi commented, "Jillian's has a spacious, upscale feel. The innovative video entertainment system enhances the restaurant's ambience as a classy and fun place. Jillian's is a great place for dining, watching sports, and meeting people."

Des Roches concluded, "We offer the biggest sports bar screen in San Francisco. There's not a bad seat in the house. This setup provides the ultimate sports-viewing experience for our customers. The SuperView is absolutely outstanding. The response from our customers has been phenomenal. The SuperView delivers top notch, crystal clear image quality. It offers exceptional flexibility. With the SuperView, we can display it all. If somebody wants it, we can show it. The video wall is a real hit with our customers."
